The RV industry may soon be in for a major blow, but this time it’s not because of fluctuating demand. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has amended its rules to require manufacturers that make RVs that weigh more than 8,500 pounds to increase the percentage of their sales to electric vehicles each year. However, there’s a problem: No RV manufacturers currently sell heavy RVs that are electric vehicles. In effect, California and five other states may have inadvertently banned new RV sales in a matter of weeks.
The new rule goes into effect in 2025, and the percentage of zero-emission vehicles that manufacturers must produce will increase each year until 2035, which is the year California hopes to completely phase out all other internal combustion engine vehicle sales. California plans to have all trucks sold in the state be zero-emission by a certain date.
The Advanced Clean Truck Rule was successfully adopted by CARB in 2020. Under the initial rule, medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturers must begin producing a certain percentage of zero-emission vehicles starting in 2024 and gradually increase.
At this time, the trailer RV is undoubtedly the best choice. The trailer RV has no power system of its own. Most consumers already have SUVs or off-road vehicles, which can easily tow the trailer RV and can also be easily separated from these RVs. After the trailer RV is separated from the towing vehicle after arriving at the destination, it is equivalent to traveling with the house and the car. The user can move freely with the towing vehicle and travel around the destination without the bulky driving of the self-propelled RV.
Since the trailer type has no power system of its own and needs other vehicles to tow, the price is usually much cheaper than the same grade of self-propelled RV. The separation of trailer RVs from towing vehicles makes the interior of the RV more homely, and the space is larger than that of self-propelled B-type and C-type RVs. There are one-bedroom and one-living room, and two-bedroom and one-living room, which can accommodate a family or a group of friends. The entire interior of the RV will look more like the structure of a house, and the space will be more spacious.
At the same time, the maintenance cost of slipper-type RVs is low. Self-propelled RVs have engines that need maintenance, and trailer RV have nothing to maintain except the shell. The maintenance cost is low. Self-propelled RVs are difficult to repair, and there are many influencing factors. Trailer RVs are different. Except for the shell, waterway, and circuit, there is nothing else, and most of them can be directly repaired.
Of course, trailer RVs also have some minor troubles. When camping, the owner needs to find a relatively level parking spot to keep the RV balanced.AOMOSUR is the world’s leading manufacturer of RV levelers.
